New railroad, highway, or other civil construction typically requires that existing utilities be exposed and encased without loss of service. Ironhed Split Casing meets this challenge by offering heavy-walled split casing in sizes up to 144” and wall thicknesses up to 1”. Formed from ASTM A36 steel, Ironhed can be ordered in sizes and walls that meet Cooper E80 (rail) and H20 (roadway) loading standards or existing pipeline occupancy specifications.
The Split Casing - FMP is used to guard against exposure of existing live sewer or water service line prior to new road or rail construction. Split steel casing is assembled using 5/10’ half sections assembled in staggered-seam configuration.
Once bolted up, this assembly becomes a strong—unitized casing. No coupling is required between sections for straight runs. 144" is our current maximum size.
Most projects generally involve some form of customization requirements and we are happy to work with you and your engineers to develop the perfect solution for your project.
